South Florida Political Team Hits the Ground Running

The fight for equality from Wilton Drive to the White House has not slowed down. As we continue to celebrate the Obama Administration and the air of change in Washington, now is the time to develop our 2009 political agenda. 

If you have been considering getting politically active this year we encourage you to join our local team of volunteers as we set our calendar for 2009.  There has never been a time with such potential for our community, but the opposition is gearing up to block our long awaited progress.  It will still take all of us raising our collective voices to achieve the change we seek, or we risk the failure of achieving the precious dream of full LGBT equality.

Interested parties may join our local South Florida Political volunteers for our kickoff meeting, on Tuesday, February 10, at 7 pm at the Symphony, 600 West Las Olas Boulevard. Ft. Lauderdale.

LOBBY DAY, 3/5 
Additionally on March 5, 2009, HRC Volunteers are going to Washington DC for four days of lobbying efforts and workshops with hundreds of HRC members.    Lasty Year's Pictures>>
 
Since its inception, Lobby Day has been an incredible opportunity for the organization's members and volunteers to have their voices heard on Capitol Hill.  We would love to have you join us in DC.

Hundreds of participants will descend upon Washington to meet with their Senators and Representatives as well as their staffs, urging them to enact a pro-equality legislative agenda that includes: Federal hate crimes protections, a fully inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act, a repeal of the failed "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, tax and benefits equity for same-sex couples and increased funding for HIV/AIDS prevention programs.
