South Florida is in the midst of its 2008 Pride season. Our first Pride of 2008 (and the year’s first for HRC) was Pridefest of the Palm Beaches in Lake Worth.
HRC South Florida was there on Sunday March 30th, signing up new members, selling HRC merchandise, and answering questions about the Human Rights Campaign. Two weeks later we were at it again – this time at the two day Pridefest in Ft Lauderdale which was another successful event for HRC.
Our final Pride of 2008, the Stonewall Street Festival in Wilton Manors, will involve an exciting week of events this year, including a first-ever nighttime parade down Wilton Drive on Saturday evening June 21st. The festival will then close with the wildly popular street fair on Sunday June 22nd. HRC will have a float in the evening parade and we’re looking for as many volunteers as possible who can ride or march in the parade or who can volunteer at the HRC booth on Sunday.
Volunteering in the parade or at the booth is great fun but it’s also important to the work of HRC. Surveys show that 70% of HRC members first heard about the Human Rights Campaign at a Pride event, and HRC reaches more than five million people each year thanks to its presence at 85+ Prides around the country. So we need your help – come volunteer with us at the Stonewall Street Festival!
